Tokyo, July 12, 2012 – Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced that it will release a system software update for “nasne™,” a new networked recorder and media storage device, on July 19, 2012, concurrently with the launch of nasne*1.
By installing system software update ver. 1.50, users will be able to use “nasne” as a media server, in addition to as a networked recorder. This will allow users to share and enjoy live TV broadcasts received through “nasne,” recorded TV programs stored in “nasne” *2, as well as their private content including videos, pictures, and music*3, created in various formats, across a variety of DLNA compatible devices connected to their home network. This system software update also adds other convenient functions to “nasne” including notifying users about the latest system software update on the “nasne” icons displayed across DLNA compatible devices*4, and allowing users to manage devices accessing “nasne”.
In addition, SCE will proactively collaborate with DLNA client software developers to enhance compatibility between their software and “nasne”, so that users can enjoy even more content on their devices through the media server features of “nasne”.
Furthermore, this system software update will expand the networked recorder features*5 of “nasne,” which can be used in combination with torne™, a dedicated application for PlayStation®3, VAIO TV with nasne™, a dedicated application for VAIO PC, and more. In order to enable even more users to instantly enjoy digital terrestrial and satellite broadcast, SCE is collaborating with SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation and WOWOW INC., and adding menu bars on “nasne™ HOME”, where users configure “nasne” settings, so they can easily subscribe to SKY PerfecTV！e2 and WOWOW channels*6.
This system update will offer more than 10 functional enhancements, including the above. *7
SCE will continue to aggressively expand the new world of entertainment through the combination of “nasne” and PlayStation platforms as well as various other devices and services.

The latest system software update information will be automatically displayed on the “nasne” icon displayed on DLNA compatible devices.
Users can select from 25 different designs to set the “nasne” icons displayed on DLNA compatible devices. By doing so, users can easily manage multiple “nasne” at the same time.
* Icons can be customized at “nasne™ HOME”. 13 out of 25 patterns can be used after users meet conditions related to the number of devices connected to “nasne,” or the number of registered remote users.
Users can conveniently manage client devices. This includes keeping track of the latest access times and dates for all devices accessing “nasne”, viewing a list of all of the users’ compatible devices, and chronologically ordering all devices which have accessed “nasne.”
nasne™ HOME supports smartphone browser and enable users to easily configure the setting of “nasne” from their smartphone.
Users are not required to input 16 digits when they register remote user for “G GUIDE TV OUKOKU CHAN-TORU” via nasne™ HOME.
*This feature is valid for PC, smartphone, and tablet.
